I have office home and student 2016 and need to install it on my new laptop. I uninstalled it on the old laptop. Managed to download it on my new laptop. Managed to download the apps to the new laptop - i got a successful message! But everytime I open a document it says sign in - and when I do it says that my trial version of Office 365 expired in 2018! I even changed the email address that was linked to my MS account incase that was the problem but its not working. Please help its been 3 days since i could do anything productive!

    Hello,

    1. The moment I open the document I get the screen that has the options of

    a) sign in or create account

    b) Have a product key

    1. Then I choose sign in and enter my email address
    2. Then it says the trial subscription for ******@gmail.com expired on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 with the options to:

    a) Buy

    b) Use a different account

    Hello Zulfa Talip-Temoore,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I am a Microsoft user just like you, I hope you are doing well.

Sorry for the inconvenience. However, I will suggest you first uninstall from Office from the new PC as it was likely installed with pre-installed Office 365 license.

    >> To uninstall Office completely use the uninstall support tool

    1. Download the Office uninstall support tool.

    https://aka.ms/SaRA-officeUninstallFromPC

    1. Open the download on your browser, and when you're prompted in the Application Install window, select Install, and then I agree for the Microsoft Services Agreement. Run the file after downloading.
    2. From the Uninstall Office products window, select the version of Office you want to uninstall, and then select Next.
    3. Follow the prompts on the remaining screens and when prompted, restart your computer. After you restart your computer, the uninstall tool automatically re-opens to complete the final step of the uninstall process. Follow the remaining prompts.

Find link attached from Microsoft on how to uninstall Office a PC:

To install Office 2016 on new PC:

    1. Go to www.office.com and if you're not already signed in, select Sign in.
    2. From the Office home page select Install Office.
    3. Select Install (or depending on your version, Install Office>).
    4. This completes the download of Office to your device. You can now proceed to install Office 2016.
    5. Once you're done installing Office 2016, you can then sign in your Microsoft account associated with this license to activate Office apps.

Hi, Zulfa, can you open a document>File>Account>Change licence. Does this help or is there an Activate Office on this page or does it show activated.

Hi Raymond - thank you so much for your reply!

I tried to follow your prompts but I got stuck at step 3. My computer only picked up the 2016 version of office for uninstall lol so i cancelled the process. I've attached the screenshot below.

    Any other advice please?!?!?
