I upgraded my laptop MS Office from 2013 to 2021, and now I can’t access my OneNote notebook saved on OneDrive. The notebook IS still available from the web, and from apps on my older desktop, tablet and phone, just not in Office OneNote 2021.

I am having the identical issue, with a slight variation in the circumstances. I am using Office Home and Student 2021, recently installed on a new Windows 11 computer. I can see my OneNote Notebook from the web page fine, so I know it is in the cloud OK. (Plus of course I can see my Notebook through the OneNote app on my old Windows 10 computer, which is what syncs up to the cloud.) But I cannot get the OneNote on my new computer to see an existing notebook, even though OneNote shows the Account information that confirms the account associated with my Notebook. There is no option for opening a Cloud notebook in OneDrive on the file open page, or anywhere else that I can find.

I repeatedly tried to attach the screenshot in png or jpg, but it fails every time, so I can't show the requested screenshot. Here's a description instead: "Open Notebook" appears at the top in bold. The available options are "Recent", then a light grey line, then "Other locations" in bold, with "This PC" and "Browse" as the two selectable options underneath. There is no OneDrive location option.

Oluwatosin, thanks for your reply. Unfortunately that didn't work, as I don't have an option to "Open from OneDrive" in my OneNote app acquired as part of Office Professional Plus 2021. The only selections available to me are to open from "Recent", "This PC", or "Browse". I'm logged into my microsoft account in a web browser and see all my OneNote content in the web page, but can't get the desktop app to locate it.

Also, I checked my Office account status (File --> Account) and it shows that my desktop OneNote app IS signed in using my hotmail account email address

I understand that you need to open One Note notebooks in OneDrive

To open a OneNote notebook from OneDrive, you can follow these steps

    Click File > Open.

If the notebook you want is stored on OneDrive, you'll find it under Open from OneDrive. Simply click the notebook to open it.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.
