How do I unlink my old Android from Microsoft?

I had an Android phone for the last 11 months and linked it with my Microsoft Account, but being 83 I dropped it too many times and broke the screen, also causing damage inside, so I went back to my favorite Flip Phone which I only have Talk & Text, and I kept my same phone number that is connected to my Microsoft Account. Now I found out that is why I am getting these notifications about my 365 expiring, which is because it was on my Android also, but it isn't expiring because I am still having payments taken out by Microsoft because it is also on my Desktop Computer. I understand that I need to remove my Outlook from the Android, but I can't do that now. I no longer have the Android. It was recycled. So what are my options now to unlink the Android and not my number? To end these annoying Notifications, I am getting.

    Thanks for the screenshots.

If you have monthly recurring bill, you can change it to annual to avoid these frequent notifications.

    1. Go to Services & subscriptions and sign in with the Microsoft account you used to purchase your subscription. https://account.microsoft.com/services/?ref=SMC-Cancel
    2. Find your subscription and select Manage.
    3. Select Manage > Change > Switch, and then choose your new recurrence. If you don't see this option, make sure recurring billing is on.

    Regards, Ravi

    Hello,

Thanks for the details. I understand your concern as you have to delete / ignore all those notifications despite of having valid subscription. Apologies for inconvenience.

Could you please let me know the other set of devices that you're using currently with your Office 365 personal subscription?

If the android device is already recycled, there are no chances to send a notification without active office apps running on the devices. Sometime there are chances to send notification from existing windows devices if the renewal is not reflected.

If you're seeing above notification, could you please try below steps to renew manually.

If you see RENEW YOUR SUBSCRIPTION in the yellow warning bar, select Buy, and follow the steps to renew your subscription online.

If you see SUBSCRIPTION EXPIRED in the yellow warning bar, select Reactivate, and then select Buy to renew Office online. If you bought a new, unused Microsoft 365 product key from a retailer, select Enter Key.

You can check the status on your Microsoft login.

Step 1: Sign in to Office with the right account If Office asks you to sign in, enter the account you used to buy Office. You'll see "We couldn't find any Office products" if you use the wrong address. https://support.microsoft.com/office/0d23d3c0-c19c-4b2f-9845-5344fedc4380#bkmk_signin

Step 2: Check your subscription status If your subscription has expired, you'll see "We couldn't find any Office products." Renew your subscription to use Microsoft 365. https://support.microsoft.com/office/0d23d3c0-c19c-4b2f-9845-5344fedc4380#bkmk_checksubscription

Also on your windows device, you can perform following steps to refresh the license activation.

    1. Close all office apps and sign out of the account
    2. Clear browser cache and cookies
    3. Clear the temporary and cache files. Go to temp location and clear all the files. To clear temporary files, Press Windows key + R to open the Run command. Then type “temp” in the search field and press OK. C:\Windows\Temp %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp
    4. Remove the credential details of the personal account from "Credential manager". Go to: Control Panel\User Accounts\Credential Manager
    5. Try to an online repair. Go to Control Panel /> Under Programs, click Uninstall a Program /> spot Microsoft Office, right-click on it and select Change. Go with Quick Repair or Online Repair accordingly to fix the problem

Hope this information would be useful to you. Please feel free to get back if you need any additional info.

The only thing I see in my Profile is "Close Account". There is nothing that says SIGN OUT EVERYWHERE or even SIGN OUT ANYWHERE. I have Windows 11. I am not sure it is a good idea to "Close my Account". I am 83 and will probably mess it up. I have been just deleting that Notification. Since I show I have my Subscription up to date and pay comes out automatically, next will come out January 25. So my Subscription is not expired, just not available on my phone, because the phone is off and recycled. So I will just deal with the annoying. Notification and continue to X out of it.

    thanks for your response.

    Hello,

I’m an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user like you. Thanks for posting the query here at this forum.

Could you please try to use the 'Sign out everywhere" to remove all active sessions?

Use the **Sign Out Everywhere** option in your Microsoft account. This will sign you out of all devices and services where you are signed in with your Microsoft account, including OneDrive Personal. To use this option, follow these steps:

    1. Go to the Microsoft account website and sign in with your Microsoft account. 2. In the upper right corner, click the Account icon (this may display as your profile image), and then click Profile. 3. On the Profile page, click the Sign Out Everywhere link. 4. Confirm that you want to sign out everywhere and click Yes.

If you have selected "sign out everywhere:, it suppose to clear the account login. If you're not sure, please login into your Microsoft account and remove or unlick the devices mapped to your account. Go to the Devices Tab and click on the device to unlink. Check the history of your account activity by opening below link and clicking on " Security "and selecting" Check recent activities ".

    https://account.microsoft.com/account/Account?ru=https%3A%2F%2Faccount.microsoft.com%2F&destrt=home-index

Also please try changing the password to clear previous all sessions

    1. Go to Recover your account and type in the email address, phone number, or Skype name you use to sign in. Then select Next. https://account.live.com/password/reset
    2. We'll ask where you'd like to get your security code. Select Next.
    3. Type the requested information and select Send code.
    4. Type the security code into Verify your identity, then select Next.
    5. Type in your New password. Then confirm it by typing it again into the Re-enter password field.

Hope this information would be useful to you. Please feel free to get back if you need any additional info.
