To reuse text properties, such as font, font size, line spacing, etc., you have to save these properties to paragraph styles. Once that has been done, you can create a template (*.dotx) from your document. Apply the formatting to body text paragraphs, headings etc. by applying the appropriate styles.

A quicker method is to just make a copy of your existing document (File > Save As > Browse) and reuse the formatting the way it has been applied to the content. This will be less safe and less flexible, as Charles has already pointed out.

The brief and unsatisfactory answer is to save a copy of the document and make changes in the copy.

You should have a template set up with layout and styles that you want to be using. Create new documents based on that template.

When you say you used a Word template but it is not working, could you elaborate?

Let me explain what I need in detail, I have to prepare a word document where I have 52 different checklist to align the word document after preparing. For example,

Font to be used is 'Arial', size '12' and color 'black'
Design Document: All date should follow the same format (mm/dd/yyyy)
    * All Level 1 Headings should start in a new page
    * All Level 1, Leve 2 & Level 3 Headings should be formatted as below
- Font color : #356A9D
- Before and after spacing should be set to 12pt
- Left indendation should be 0.13 pt
    * All paragraphs in the document should be formatted as below
- Before spacing should be 0pt, after spacing should be 12pt
- Left indendation of text should be 0.13 pt
- Line spacing should be Single
    * All bullet points in FTD should be as below
- Before and after spacing should be set to 0pt
- Left indendation should be 0.38
    * Header & Contents of a table should be top left aligned
    * Contents of a cell in a table should be
- Font size '10'
- Top Left aligned
- Before and after spacing should be set to 0pt
- Width of table border should be 1/2 pt
- S.no in in table should end with a period. E.g. 1.
    * Line spacing should be uniform for all the sections

I am duplicating the existing aligned document and started preparing the next document. But due to different reasons like copy and paste or whatever reasons the format is changing like left alignment for paragraph (Left Indent - 0.13) or Bullet point (Left Indent - 0.38) are not same as checklist. Due to this issue, I am spending lot of time in formatting itself.

Is there any easy method which help me to prepare document without disturbing the alignment? what is the step I have follow. So that even if I copy and past paragraph automatically it should sit at 0.13 left aligned and bullet point will aligned at 0.38?? Any solutions????

Start by creating a template that has your basic layout the way you want.

Define styles, especially paragraph styles, for your formatting. Modify the built in heading styles to have the formatting you want.

You can create and save a table set up the way you want and save it as a Quick Table in your template or in your Building Blocks.

You can create a date content control that is formatted as you want and save that as a Building Block. Use the building block when you need to insert a date in that format.

Styles and Building Blocks can be attached to keyboard shortcuts.

Use the styles. Look at the links that I initially provided. What you want is possible.
