I need to restore unsaved document (Word for Mac)

My word document was freezing and when I went to reload it, it deleted everything as it wasn't saved.

    Hi Briana,

    Dillon gave it a nice try, but the page he pointed you to is not for Microsoft Word for Mac. It applies only to Microsoft Word for Windows.

    If the file was never saved at all, then there is nothing to restore.

    If Word froze and you force-quit Word AND you had saved it to your Mac at least once, then an AutoRecover file was generated and Word would have prompted you to recover that file the next time you opened Word. Since you didn't mention anything at all about that happening, I take it that your report the file was never saved is accurate and it has vanished forever.
