My 365 developer subscription is inactive, I got this message on my dashboard. I got an email showing that all data will be deleted on 2/15/2024 (UTC). How can I keep the data and renew the subscription? I don't want to recreate the admin account for the developer. Thank you.

    Hi myartemis,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I found this thread that tackles about on how to renew your Microsoft 365 developer subscription, you can log in with the administrator account to your subscription on the portal. You can use the same credentials to logon to as well and manage the users from Azure AD portal.

To renew your Microsoft 365 subscription for developer, you can follow these steps:

    1. Go to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
    2. Navigate to the Subscriptions page and click on Billing.
    3. Locate the expired subscription and click on Reactivate.

If you are prompted with a message that says “this subscription is inactive and will expire soon”, you can log in to your subscription on the portal. You can use the same credentials to log in to the Azure AD portal as well and manage the users from there.

You would get this message if you have never logged in and used the subscription that you created. In order to be able to continue the developer subscription, you can just log in and assign some licenses to users. You should log in to the subscription at least once or twice a month. Because if there are no sign-ins, the back-end audit system considers the subscription unused and stale and marks it for deletion.

If you renew your subscription before the expiration date, your data will not be deleted. However, if your subscription has already expired, you may not be able to recover your data. In that case, you may need to recreate the admin account for the developer.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

    Hello,

I'm afraid I have the same problem. Wanted to continue development and noticed the subscription is inactive. There doesn't seem to be a way to reactivate the account. I tried to add a new admin account but this doesn't resolve the issue. The only way forward seems to be to delete the subscription, wait 60 days and create a new subscription. But putting everything on hold for 60 days is not feasible.

    Many thanks,

    bob

I have this issue too, I want to be able to use the dev site to set up Intune and test before backing up the configs and restoring to a live tenant. Mine is inactive, I can't get through to any support team to help either. I can't wait 60 days as I need it for a project.

    Dear Microsoft Developer Team,

I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to inquire about reactivating my Microsoft Office 365 Developer Subscription, which is currently inactive. As a developer, having access to the Office 365 suite is crucial for my work, and I would like to continue using it.

Could you please guide me on the steps to reactivate my subscription? Is there any additional information or documentation I need to provide? I appreciate your assistance in resolving this matter promptly.

Thank you for your attention, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
