How do I stop the quick access toolbar from including autosave, save, undo and redo?

Hi community,

The autosave, save, undo and redo functions do not stay removed from the quick access toolbar. I am able to remove them as normal (for example by right clicking it and selecting "remove from quick access toolbar", but upon opening the same file again, or any other file, they are back on the quick access toolbar.

Other details

  • Same problem across all other office applications.
  • This is the first time I've experienced this - I did not have them on the QAT before.
  • Using office 365.
  • Under "what's new" (which I have to navigate to via account rather than anything on the title bar) there is no option to turn a new experience on or off (which I've seen as a suggestion in response to a similar sort of question).
  • I have tried saving down customisations.

This is quite frustrating as they take up space and options.

Thank you for your help!

I have the same issue as everybody else. I did find one workaround. Rather than trying to remove the unwanted icons, which doesn't work, I moved the icons down on the list, so they're at the far right of the QAT. Since I have all available space on the QAT filled with icons that I actually do want, the effect is to hide the unwanted icons. And that change in location persists after I close and reopen the apps. Maybe this workaround will help somebody else.

It's pretty obvious to me that this is a Bug, an incredibly frustrating one, probably introduced with a recent update. It is apparently affecting a lot of people, including me.

Please fix this Bug as soon as possible.

Yes, yet another "wake up and try to undo what was forced on us" feature that we don't want.

I have the same issue, the autosave, save, undo and redo buttons should not appear after they are disabled/unchecked. It defeats the purpose of setting up a customized quick access numbering if the buttons are overwritten by the three buttons everytime I open excel... This was not an issue up until now, fix ASAP microsoft...
