Office no longer allows editing on a Mac

Does anyone know why my Mac no longer allows me to edit Office documents with error message "your account does not allow editing with a Mac" yet I can on my MacBook Pro? This issue only started on Mon 11th Dec.

I am on Office 365 Business edition.

I undertook a check to ensure I had an active subscription, which I have as I can edit Office documents on my MacBook Pro.

On the Mac I can create and view Office documents no problem, but cannot edit them.

I deleted the files as per the answers.microsoft.com suggestion:

UBF8T346G9.ms

UBF8T346G9.Office

UBF8T346G9.OfficeOsfWebHost

And restarted but still get the same error message.

I have all rebooted the Mac several times but there is no difference. Files are not editable and I get the same error message.

If you're not signed in to your account, Microsoft 365 becomes read-only.

Try creating a new user account on your Mac. Then sign into that account and see if you can edit Word files. If you can, it means there is some problem with the user profile on your old user account.

If the problem still exists in the new user account, or if you don't want to switch user accounts, please follow these steps to uninstall: Uninstall Office for Mac Then re-install from the Services & subscriptions page of your Microsoft account.
