PowerPoint audio sound

Hello, I am working on a PPT that needs audio embedded throughout the slides. However, the volume of the audio recording remains very low although my computer sound is turned on at full volume. Within the PowerPoint program, I already have the volume in the audio options as "high," but nothing seems to make a difference to increase the sound volume.

Therefore, I've been researching this for a week and found PPTools Narrators. I eagerly downloaded the file, but when I open the file to install the actual narrator, my PowerPoint keeps saying "Sorry, for some reason PowerPoint couldn't load the Narrator add-in."

Did I not put the add-in properly? Here were the instructions I read:

  • Extract the Narrator files (Narrator.PPAM and Narrator_HELP.PDF) to any convenient folder. We suggest your Add-ins folder:
  • C:\Users[Your_User_Name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AddIns
  • (Substitute your actual Windows user name for [Your_User_Name])
  • Start PowerPoint and choose File | Options | Add-Ins

Maybe the problem is that I couldn't find the add-in folders on my computer associated with Microsoft? If you could guide me, I would appreciate it!

    Hello! Pianomusicfan

    Thank you for the reply!

Can I know if you still have the same issue? Or was it fixed after trying the steps?

    Thank you,

    Hi Pianomusicfan. Guitarmusicfan here :-)

As Vince has pointed out, the volume level and your issue with Narrator are two different things.

Keep working with Vince and anyone else who participates here on the volume issue.

As for Narrator, I'm the author. It'll be better to work with me directly for support on that.

Please use the Contact link on the PPTools site to get in touch. I'll be happy to help.

    Thanks

    Hello! Pianomusicfan

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community

I understand that you’re having trouble with the audio in your PowerPoint presentation. Based on your description, it seems that the issue is not related to the PPTools Narrators add-in. Instead, it could be due to the microphone settings on your computer.

Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Right-click the sound icon in the lower right corner of your screen and select “Open Sound settings”.
    2. Under the “Input” section, choose the microphone you’re using for your audio recording.
    3. Click “Device properties” and make sure the volume setting is set to 100.
    4. You can also click “Start test” to test the microphone.

If the microphone setting has already been set to the highest, try changing to another microphone device and test on your side. Alternatively, you can open PowerPoint into Safe Mode (press win + R, type powerpnt /safe), record the audio, and check whether the issue exists.

Regarding the PPTools Narrators add-in, it seems that you have followed the correct instructions to install it. However, if you’re still having trouble, you can try the following steps:

    1. Make sure that you have the latest version of PowerPoint installed.
    2. Try installing the add-in again and make sure that you have extracted the files to the correct folder.
    3. If the issue persists, you can try disabling other add-ins that might be interfering with the Narrator add-in.

    Additionally, allow me to ask:

    • What version and edition of Office do you have installed in your device? Example: Personal/Family/Enterprise?
      • You can open any Office apps
      • Go to File > Accounts - on the right side you can see Product Information
    • is the file shared by someone else? or originally created by you?
    • What error message are you getting?
    • Is this happening to all of your files? or just specific file?

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

    Thank you,

    Vince
