How to select SendAs vs Send on Behalf when creating message in Shared mailbox

Good afternoon,

I am wondering what method is used to send an email message from a shared mailbox when the person creating the message has both SendAs and Send on Behalf of permissions on the mailbox and if it is possible to dictate which of the methods be used on a case by case basis.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Regards,

Scott

    Hello Scott,

    Thank you for reaching out!

To answer your query, when a person has both SendAs and Send on Behalf of permissions on a shared mailbox, the SendAs permission takes precedence over the Send on Behalf of permission. This means that when the person sends an email message from the shared mailbox, the message will appear to be sent from the shared mailbox itself, rather than from the person’s own email address.

It is not possible to dictate which of the methods to use on a case-by-case basis. The method used to send the email message will depend on the permissions granted to the person sending the message. If the person only has Send on Behalf of permissions, the message will be sent from the person’s own email address but will indicate that it was sent on behalf of the shared mailbox.

In case you have any further questions, please let me know.

    Best Regards,

    Ashraf.
