All images in Office 365 are blank "the image part with relationship id rld11 was not found in the file"

Hello,

For the past week now, every image in my large .docx file appears as a blank frame with the writing "the image part with relationship id rld11 was not found in the file".

"Show picture placeholder" is already unchecked, "show background colors and images in Print Layout view" and "Show drawings and text boxes on screen" are checked.

Can someone assist me in identifying the problem, providing preventative measures, and resolving it?

Best regards,

Hanna

Your document is corrupt and you must re-insert the images.

The most common causes of document corruption are editing Word files while they are on a USB stick or while they are on an unsupported cloud service, such as Google Drive or iCloud. OneDrive or SharePoint are more reliable, or you can use DropBox if you check the right option in the DropBox desktop app.

    Hello Johanna28532,

I'm Segunfunmi, an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user like you. Thank you for posting your query in this forum.

I'm sorry you're facing an issue with Microsoft Office. That error message you received, “the image part with relationship id rld11 was not found in the file,” can be a bit of a headache. But don't worry, I'm here to help you out!

One common cause of this error message is an issue with how Microsoft Office handles temporary files, especially when working with files saved in synchronised folders like Dropbox. To resolve this issue, move your .docx file out of the synchronised Dropbox folder (or any external drives, thumb drives, etc.) and onto your local hard drive before editing. This should prevent any synchronisation issues when the Office creates a temporary file.

If the issue persists, you may need to remove the affected images and add them again. This could resolve the problem if it's specific to certain images. Also, make sure that your Microsoft Word version is up-to-date. Sometimes, these types of issues are resolved in newer updates.

Remember to always keep a backup of your file before making any changes, just in case anything goes wrong. This way, you can still revert to the original file.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Kind regards, Segunfunmi.
