find and replace and sub/superscript

Can you use the find and replace function in word to replace a word with a superscript or subscript character?

So for example CO2 and then replace the 2 with a subscript 2.

    Type CO2 and format the 2 as subscript. Select the expression and copy it. Then, in the Replace dialog, in the "Find what" box type CO2, and in the "Replace with" box enter ^c (which represents the Clipboard contents). Replace All.

    Press Ctrl+H to activate the Replace dialog.

    If you don't see the search options, click 'More >>'.

    Enter the text you want to find in the 'Find what' box.

    In the 'Replace with' box, enter ^&

    This is the code for 'the found text'.

    With the insertion point still in the 'Replace with' box, select Format > Font...

    Click Superscript or Subscript, so that there is a check mark in the check box.

    Click OK.

    Click 'Replace' or 'Replace All'.
