Both sdxhelper.exe and sdx-helper.exe can be seen in Resource Monitor running for multiple minutes at every startup . Obviously sdxhelper.exe is legit, but I'm not finding any references to sdx-helper.exe. A check for malware didn't find it and Bing and Google default to just describing sdxhelper.exe.

    Hi GrewExtraTall,

    Thanks for contacting us,

sdxhelper.exe is a file that belongs to Microsoft Office. It stands for Secure Download Helper and it is responsible for downloading Microsoft Office software or updates securely. It is usually located in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun folder and it has a digital signature from Microsoft Corporation.

sdx-helper.exe is a file that does not belong to Microsoft Office. It is a suspicious file that may be related to malware or adware.

You should not confuse sdxhelper.exe with sdx-helper.exe, as they are not the same file and they have different functions and origins. You should scan your computer with a reliable anti-malware tool to detect and remove any possible threats. You should also delete the sdx-helper.exe file from your Temp folder and check your registry for any traces of it.

Let me know if this helps or if you need further assistance.

    Regards, Sola
