I have Microsoft 365. I'm trying to use the draw tool in Word but I don't see the ruler that I can use to angle, draw straight lines and measure pictures.

    Hi Janis M,

I am an independent advisor, trying to help other users in the Community with my experience in Microsoft products. Please note that I am a user like you and don't work directly for Microsoft.

There are a few options that may resolve the issue.

Enable the Ruler: First, ensure that the ruler is enabled in Word. Go to the "View" tab in the Word ribbon and check the "Ruler" option. If it's unchecked, click on it to enable the ruler.

Check Zoom Level: Sometimes, the ruler may not be visible if the zoom level is set too low. Try zooming in on your document to see if the ruler becomes visible. You can adjust the zoom level by using the zoom slider in the bottom-right corner of the Word window.

Switch to Print Layout View: The ruler may only be visible in certain views, such as Print Layout view. Switch to Print Layout view by clicking on the corresponding icon in the status bar at the bottom of the Word window. This may make the ruler visible.

Update Microsoft 365: Ensure that your Microsoft 365 subscription is up to date and that you're using the latest version of Word. Updates sometimes include bug fixes and improvements that could address issues with the ruler not being visible.

Reset Word Settings: If the issue persists, you can try resetting Word settings to their default values. Go to "File" > "Options" > "General" and click on the "Reset" button under "Reset to default settings." Note that this will reset all settings in Word, so proceed with caution.

Check for Add-ins: Some third-party add-ins or extensions in Word may conflict with the display of certain features like the ruler. Try disabling any add-ins you have installed and see if the ruler becomes visible.

    I would appreciate your feedback

    Best regards, Amadeusz
