Can anyone explain to me how the inbuilt colour palette just changes in a handful of documents?? Mystifying!

No words for this one.... Anyone from Microsoft care to explain this one?

This is the normal colour palette, it is the SAME in every document and nothing we mess around with (or even know how to change - I thought this palette was fixed?) I have macros that apply formats using the colours in this fixed, unchanging for years colour palette....

I have not seen this before. Any ideas?

    Unfortunately, Microsoft terminology is ambiguous.

When you access File > Options > General, you are seeing the Office Theme which controls the display of the user interface in your Office applications. I take it this is where you are looking since you mentioned "Use system setting"?

The Document Theme must be modified from the Design tab in Word.

As Charles said, the document is probably using a different document Theme from to the one you prefer.

Also, check if the document is saved in an older version of the *.docx file format, which may or may not be relevant.

The Standard Colors have not changed,

A different Theme is applied with different Theme Colors.

Apply the same Theme to the documents, and the Theme Colors will be the same.

Would you care to share some of the vba that is causing problems?

Our docs are protected so unsure how the themes are being changed... In any event, thank you! I know what/where to look now. :)
