Unable to Add Language Pack

I have added a new language from the keyboard settings of Windows 10. I intend to only use this language for writing purposes and not as a display language. I have been trying to install the proofing settings on Word but this error keeps on popping up:

"Unable to Add Language Pack

Office is currently installing another update. Please wait for a few minutes and try installing your language again."

This keeps on happening even though there are no updates happening in the background. I've even tried to restart my laptop. I don't wish to re-install Office right now, looking for other fixes.

Thanks

Hi, thank you for reaching out. My name is Deeksha and I'm a Microsoft user like yourself and I will try to help you as best as I can today.

Close all Microsoft Office applications. Restart Microsoft Word and try installing the language pack again.

Ensure your Microsoft Office suite is up to date: Open any Office application (e.g., Word). Go to File > Account. Under Product Information, click on Update Options > Update Now. Install any available updates and restart your computer.

You can try repairing the Office installation: Close all Office applications. Open Control Panel > Programs and Features. Right-click on Microsoft Office in the list and select Change. Select Repair and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the repair.

Check for Multiple Office Installations Open Control Panel > Programs and Features. If yes, uninstall the older versions and keep only the latest version.

Manually Download and Install Language Pack: Visit the Microsoft Language Accessory Pack webpage. Download the Language Accessory Pack for your language. Run the downloaded file to install the language pack.

Ensure the new language is added correctly in Word: Open Microsoft Word. Go to File > Options. Click on Language. Add the new language if it's not already added and set it as the default editing language

Try these steps and hopefully, it resolves your issue. In case you need further help or assistance, please let us know. You can also contact Microsoft Support if the problem persists.

    Best regards Deeksha

If you want to install language support in Office, go to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/language-accessory-pack-for-microsoft-365-82ee1236-0f9a-45ee-9c72-05b026ee809f.

Remember that the "bit-ness" of the language pack must match that of the Office installation.
