How to transfer photos from onedrive TO google photos?

I suddenly got an email saying my onedrive was full at 200gb/100gb (200%) storage, and I can no longer receive emails on my main email.

Based off some quick searching, it seems some people including myself, had some promos that gave us additional storage until march 1st. Now im suddenly 100gb over the limit and I need to quickly move my backed up photos into google photos to clear up some onedrive storage for my email. it's also odd because my email storage says it's only 10% full.

I noticed that the onedrive back ups are not organized in files, which is a huge pain for me as well.

Does anyone know how to revert the onedrive files back to the organized albums that I had on my phone and transfer that onto google photos? Any advice would help as I cannot suddenly just delete 100+gbs mindlessly and I don't want to go a long period without being able to receive emails :(

    Hello Seirak,

    I understand your situation.

To answer your first question on how to revert the OneDrive files back to the organized albums that you had on your phone, you can try the following steps:

    1. Go to the OneDrive website and sign in.
    2. Select Photos.
    3. Select Albums.
    4. Select the photos you want to add to the album and then click Add album. For detailed information, read this article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/organize-and-find-photos-in-onedrive-6a9b0298-f504-4992-af0e-45e2f270afc9

For your second question on how to move files from OneDrive to Google photos, take the following steps:

    1. Download the OneDrive desktop app and sign in with your Microsoft account credentials.
    2. During setup, select “Choose what folders to sync” and check the box next to “Pictures” and any other folders with photos.
    3. Wait for the sync to begin, and give it time to download all of your photos.
    4. Install the Google Photos Backup app. In the initial setup (or after the fact under “Preferences”) you can choose which folders it should watch for new photos to upload. For detailed information, read this article: https://www.androidcentral.com/how-move-your-onedrive-pictures-google-photos

I pulled the above steps from support.microsoft.com and support.google.com

    I hope it helps.

    Kind Regards, Rita.
