Is there any way to change my account email for backup purposes?

I signed into my new laptop using the wrong email and in return none of my files transferred over. I have tried just adding the needed email under accounts, but I have no option to run a backup for file transfer still. Is there any way to change the email and perform a new backup so all of my stuff can transfer over?

    Hi LaCiera,

Thanks for contacting us and sorry for the inconveniences,

To change your account email for backup purposes, you need to do the following:

    • Sign out of your current account on your new laptop. You can do this by going to Start, Settings, Accounts, and clicking on Sign out.
    • Sign in with a local account instead of a Microsoft account. You can do this by going to Start, Settings, Accounts, Your info, and clicking on Sign in with a local account instead. Follow the prompts to create a local account with a username and password.
    • Sign in with the correct Microsoft account that has your files backed up. You can do this by going to Start, Settings, Accounts, Your info, and clicking on Sign in with a Microsoft account instead. Enter your email and password and follow the prompts to switch to your Microsoft account.
    • Run a backup for file transfer. You can do this by going to Start, Settings, Update & Security, Backup, and clicking on Add a drive. Choose the drive where you want to store your backup and turn on the Automatically back up my files option. You can also customize your backup settings by clicking on More options.

Let me know if this helps or if you need further assistance.

    Regards, Sola
