    Dear Claude Thau,

    Good day!!

Apologies for the inconvenience caused and please don’t worry, let’s work together on your concern and move towards a resolution path.

I understand your concern and would like to convey that to use and activate the Office apps, we need to have the license called “The latest desktop version of Office” in the Office 365 account provided by your company.

So, I would like to confirm whether you are having the license “The latest desktop version of Office” in the Subscriptions page of your Office 365 account provided by your company:

Open the browser such as Google Chrome> Click on the three dots at the top right> New Incognito window> Access https://portal.office.com > Enter Office 365 account details> Click on the profile picture at the top right (beside the question mark icon)> View Account> Scroll little down and click on Subscriptions> See whether the mentioned license is listed in the user Subscriptions page.

If you are having the mentioned license, I would like to confirm whether you are using the Windows OS or Mac OS.

Note: If you are not having the mentioned license, please contact the IT admin of your Education Institution and request them to assign the license to use the Office apps.

If Windows OS: Please download and install the Microsoft SARA tool to troubleshoot the Office apps activation issue. Reference: About the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant - Microsoft Support

If Mac OS: Please perform the below steps:

Step 1: Open any Office app such as PowerPoint> Sign Out from the PowerPoint> Quit all Office apps.

Step 2: Go to the Finder> Applications> Utilities> Keychain Access> Remove the Identities related to Microsoft Office.

Step 3: Use License Removal tool to remove the Office license files on the Mac; reference: How to remove Office license files on a Mac (microsoft.com)

Step 4: Restart your Mac> Re-open PowerPoint app> Sign in with Office 365 account> Check the outcome.

If there is no success, we are sorry and request you to share the following information which will help us to better understand and guide you in the right direction:

    1. Screenshot of the error message when you try to activate the Office apps.
    2. Are you using Windows OS or Mac OS? Please provide the OS version with us.
    3. Version of Office apps: About Office: What version of Office am I using? - Microsoft Support
    4. Is your device enabled with the proxy, antivirus, VPN?
    5. Do any other users in your company are having the same issue?

Our sincere apologies for not resolving the problem is first reply but answers to above queries will help us to better understand your situation and guide you in the right direction.

Appreciate your patience and understanding. Have a great day!!

    Best Regards,

    Sophia
