I want to drag a picture to fit the page, have tried everything without success. Even if I set margins to narrow, I can't move the image on the left-hand side.

    Hello Wilma,

My name is EngineTyme, an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you and I would be glad to help you.

Adjusting images in a document can sometimes be tricky, but we can always work together to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Drag and Resize Method: Open your MS Word document. Insert the image by going to the Insert tab, clicking on Pictures, and selecting your desired image. Right-click on the image and choose Wrap Text. Select either Behind Text or In front of Text. This ensures you can freely drag and resize the image. Now, drag the image’s sides (top, bottom, left, and right) to the edge of the document page. If you want to maintain the aspect ratio, resize it by dragging any of the four corners. Your image should now fit the page without any whitespace.
    2. Specifying Length and Width Method: Select the image. Go to the Format tab, click the Wrap Text button, and choose More Layout Options. In the Layout dialog box, go to the Size tab. Input your preferred image dimensions (e.g., 27.94 cm height and 21.59 cm width for an 8.5" x 11" document). Reposition the image as needed.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concern.

    Best regards, EngineTyme.

This person is likely inquiring about using the online version of Office 365, as I only experience this problem on the online version of Word and not the desktop version. I've tried formatting the image to fit behind and in front of the text, but it will not overlap the left margin. It looks like it is a design issue that has not been replicated in the online version yet.

If I follow option 1 it puts the image on top of the image on the next page though?

An image that is In Line with Text will be constrained to the margins. If you choose any other wrapping style, you should be able to drag it freely, but do be aware that an image that fills the page will likely not print "full bleed" because most printers have an irreducible unprintable area on all sides, usually larger on the trailing edge for paper-handling purposes. Some printers have a "borderless" setting, but often it requires a special carrier or is only for photographs smaller than Letter size. As Charles suggests, using the PDF printer will allow you to create a document that does not display this unprintable area, but it still won't print on most desktop printers.

    Hi Wilma,

Which part of Option 1 (there were several things you could be doing)?

Realize that most printers will not print edge-to-edge. You may be constrained by the printer chosen.

Try changing the printer for the document to Microsoft Print to PDF.
