I have tried Review > Manage Protection which allows you to make the sheet read-only and also File > Info > Protect Workbook which doesn't seem to do anything at all.

Microsoft 365 and Office | Excel | For home | Windows

    Hello Smith,

My name is Jackson and thank you for your question.

I sincerely apologize for the issue you experience with your excel file, I am a user myself and do not work for Microsoft so I understand how frustrating this is.

    " I pulled the following steps from https://support.microsoft.com/office/7359d4ae-7213-4ac2-b058-f75e9311b599 :

" To prevent others from accessing data in your Excel files, protect your Excel file with a password.

    1. Select File > Info.
    2. Select the Protect Workbook box and choose Encrypt with Password.
    3. Enter a password in the Password box, and then select OK.
    4. Confirm the password in the Reenter Password box, and then select OK.

    Warm regards,

    Jackson E.
