How to use Office 2010 on a laptop with Office 365 ?

Good Evening,

My free Office 365 subscription that came with my laptop has expired. I have a Office Professional Plus 2010 Student key that should still be active.

Do I have to uninstall 365 and then install 2010 from a reliable website ? And will my 2010 product key still work (can I check it before I start uninstalling anything ? ) .

Thank you

An external optical drive is useful and relatively inexpensive. I have just been using one to install a lot of software on a new Windows 11 desktop that came without an optical drive.

Thank you for the fast reply.

Sorry I shouldve asked that part. I do have the original cd, but like most modern laptops it doesnt have a cd drive. Surely I can download Office 10 from somewhere ? Though I guess Microsoft want you to pay to upgrade.

You can get a USB DVD drive, probably for less than $30 US.

Since Microsoft 365 is expired, I recommend that you uninstall the product from Windows Settings.

Office 2010 can only be installed if you have a product key and installation media, I'm afraid. You can't download the installation file from Microsoft anymore.

Sorry, you can't get a backup installation from Microsoft. They remove all downloads as soon as a product is out of support. :-(

In theory, you may be able to download the install file from somewhere else, but you must be very careful so that your computer doesn't get infected with a virus in the process.

Finding an external CD or DVD will be safer.
