Is this email "cdoccm alpha microsoft dot com" a legit one?

I've got my primary Microsoft account locked. I'm trying to restore an access.

I've just got an email from this address "cdoccm alpha microsoft dot com". Replace " alpha " by @ and " dot " by . to see it full, because this forum automatically applies censorship to plain emails provided.

Can you please tell me whether it is a phishing attempt?

Here is the email text:

Service request 7036570248

Hello, %my_name%,

My name is Maico and I work in Microsoft support. I would like to thank you for taking the time to contact us regarding your Microsoft account recovery request. For additional assistance, additional information is required to verify ownership.

Use the information you believe has been associated with the account, even if it may have changed. If the account has been hacked and the information has changed, we will still attempt to verify the account based on the information associated before the change. Note: If you do not provide any of this information, we will not be able to process your claim.

The secret to passing the validation process is to provide as much information as possible. For multi-answer questions, Hotmail folder, subject and contact names include 3 or 4 answers instead of 1. If your postcode can be one of 2 or 3, provide them all. Provide accurate information. For example, instead of saying you have a Facebook email address, give the exact text "Facebook notification - Invitation to friend from John Smith". The more information you provide and the more accurate your information is, the more likely you are to pass verification.

Hi there Jack D. I am Lumie and I would love to assist you today.

I am so sorry you are having issues getting into your account.

In this case, it does seem to be legit. CDOCC is a real email and this is a real template, this is also something they will do at your request. However, I can always understand why you would want to be cautious. Sometimes addresses like this can be spoofed. I personally do not like to send details over email unless I can be completely and utterly sure it is not spoofed. All CDOCC will do for you is complete the recovery form upon your behalf. With this in mind, you can just complete the form yourself if you do not trust the request from the email. [https://account.live.com/acsr]

Make sure you complete it in an area you would normally access your account. It is important to be consistent with this form, you can fill out the form twice a day every day until you regain access to your account. Repeating this will increase your chances of recovery.

Here are more tips for following through with the form: [https://support.microsoft.com/account-billing/b19c02d1-a782-dee6-93c3-dc8113b20c42]

    I hope this helps.

Let me know if I can be of any further assistance. -Lumie

    Hello Lumie,

Thank you for your reply. I did exactly as you proposed: made an application via [https://account.live.com/acsr] link instead of direct email i received. Who knows who is behind a screen.

    Hope it will help.

    Regards, JD.
