Office 365 Apps Won't Start, Error 0xC0000142

So about four days ago my wife was on her laptop (she's an LPC that uses Zoom) and all was well. She was getting her email fine between sessions. She came back the next day, started her Dell Inspiron 17 5000 (running WIndows 10) and her email would not start.

Outlook would throw up the splash title card, but then the start up would fail with the message “The Application Was Unable to Start Correctly (0xc0000142)”. I also tried starting Word, Excel and PowerPoint, all the same result.

I also used the 'Repair' button in settings, but it did nothing. I also tried to repair it in Programs and Features, but that failed with Error Code 30053-44 saying it couldn't find any Office apps installed.

I then tried a system restore that I believe was from one day before the problem started with some Windows Modules Installer update.

All I want is to find the email data files so I can save all her old emails...she has hundreds that are business related. And yeah, it should have had a back up feature to another folder or a could, but we're past that, now.

Can anyone help? I looked for hours online using all the recommendations for where those .pst files are, but I cannot find them.

Thanks!

This answer is not helpful. As I said, I already tried opening Outlook, Word and Excel and I can't....I get an error message. So I can't update them the way you suggest, and I can't get to the data files that way either.

    Any other suggestions?
