Does the version history and metadata or the folders and documents remain the same, if we move them from one Document library to other.

Hello,

I have a SharePoint which has 2 document libraries, say TEST 1 and TEST 2. I have a few folders and documents in the TEST 1 document library.

I would like to move the folders and documents from the TEST 1 document library to the TEST 2 library.

May I know whether the metadata, version history, etc... Will be retained or it will be lost.?

    Dear SK_05_95,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

From your description It seems you want to know Does the version history and metadata or the folders and documents remain the same, if we move them from one Document library to other.

I read your question carefully, according to this article from Microsoft Metadata for the file being copied or moved will be preserved as long as the same term store is used in both the source and destination locations. When selecting Move to, the history of the document is copied to the new destination.

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated.

If there is any misunderstanding, please feel free to correct me.

    Have a nice day!

    Best Regards,

    Sophia
