Why Doesn't Copy/Pasting a Slide Copy the Background Color?

I'm working on a PowerPoint in which I really want to keep a consistent look and feel throughout my slides. I spent a lot of time perfecting the design of slide number 1, so I could duplicate that slide over and over and change the content.

I noticed that copy/pasting a slide does not copy the background color which I've customized on it. It seems to default back to the default slide background color for my theme. Yet if I Duplicate the slide, it keeps my background color.

Now that I know, I know and use Duplicate instead of copy/paste. But I'm bringing it up here because it sure does feel like a bug.

    Dear Brian Reich1

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you

I also found this phenomenon in our tests here, which may be a flaw in PowerPoint's design.

Currently, copy and paste does not retain custom backgrounds except for duplicate slides. I completely agree with you, this is indeed a great addition to the current functionality of PowerPoint, thanks for pointing this out. Microsoft is constantly working to improve the functionality of its O365 products, and such suggestions are greatly appreciated. You can go to thefeedback community to create a new entry or vote for it.

    Thanks for your cooperation.
