I have 5GB of free OneDrive, use to be 15GB, and I only want my onedrive folder backup. If it need to be backup, it would be in the onedrive folder only, Not desktop, not documents, not pictures, or any other location but the onedrive location. I get upset when my computer state I low on storage on my onedrive when the software is syncing stuff I don't want it to do. Do I need to sync stuff manually to make sure only the right stuff gets sync. I only can transfer 1 Mbps also.

I hate Windows 11 lazy approach at improving Windows that make thing for me even harder. Let come up with something good and get rid of it. How about making it that we can customize the ui the way we want it from ideal from the past and add additional ideal. I needed patch Windows 11 to make it work right 3rd party sources.

    Hi CraigLong.

Thank you for trying to help but you don't explain where the OneDrive settings are and how to get there. Someone else said to right click on the cloud icon in the notifications are, well my Windows 11, brand new pc doesn't show a cloud icon - anywhere, so your comment doesn't help me at all.

This video will show you where to find the OneDrive cloud icon and settings in Windows. You may need to click Start and type in OneDrive.

The Settings are a bit different in Windows 11. To find Manage Backup go to the Settings > Sync and Backup tab > Manage Backup.

Here is the problem. I paid a lot of money for a pc with 4TB of storage and I want my files stored on my pc's desktop and documents directories not in the cloud but Windows 11 forces me to use OneDrive.

You will need to turn off the automatic syncing of the Desktop, Documents, Pictures, Music, and Videos folders at Manage Backup. See this video:

Then you can remove the folders from the OneDrive folder at put them back in their default locations. The OneDrive folder is located at C:\Users\username\OneDrive.

For example, move the Documents folder from C:\Users\username\OneDrive\Documents to C:\Users\username\Documents

    Hi CapacityAsp1041,

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

Apparently, the "sync and backup" settings have been activated. You can turn off the sync at the OneDrive Settings > Sync and backup > Manage backup. Then only the files within the OneDrive folder will back up to OneDrive. You may need to either remove some files from the OneDrive folder to free up space or purchase more cloud storage space.

I hope that helps. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Best regards,

    Craig
