I have set my language preference to English and my translation preference to "from English to English" but when I dictate in English the text appears in Ukrainian. How do I fix this?

Hi, thank you for reaching out. My name is Deeksha and I'm a Microsoft user like you and I will try to help you as best as I can today.

It is good that you have set it english to english

Check Language Settings-

Windows Settings: Open Settings on your computer. Go to Time & Language > Language. Check that English as the default language and should be listed above Ukrainian in the language list.

Keyboard Language: Open Settings > Time & Language > Language. Select Spelling, typing, & keyboard settings. Make sure that English is selected under keyboards.

Check Dictation Settings-

Dictation Language: Ifusing Windows Dictation, check that the dictation language is English. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Speech. Under Speech Language, English should selected.

Microsoft Office Language Preferences: If using dictation in Microsoft Office apps like Word, the dictation language should be English. Open the Office application. Go to File > Options > Language. English should be selected as the editing language.

Restart Dictation Service-

Restart Windows Speech Service: Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter. Find Windows Speech Recognition Right-click on it and press Restart.

Clear Dictation Cache: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Speech. Click on Stop getting to know me. Click on Turn off. Restart your computer. Go to Settings after > Privacy & Security > Speech and click on Start getting to know me.

Update Windows and Office: See if your Windows and Office applications are to date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and press Check for updates. Open the Microsoft Office application, go to File > Account > Update Options and press Update Now.

Try these steps and hopefully, it resolves your issue. In case you need further help or assistance, please let us know. You can also contact Microsoft Support if the problem persists.

Best regards Deeksha
