I have been able to close the spacing by clicking on Home - Line Spacing Options - .05. Still don't understand why Paragraph Spacing is gray. For future edits, I would like to be able to edit in a more straightforward fashion.
Thank you for trying to help me.
Thank you for your response. Where to I go after clicking on Review? Editing is checked to make any changes.
I tried the guidance given in the previous response and none are working.
Are you otherwise able to edit the document?
If not, it may be protected in some way and you will need to remove that protection via the Review>Restrict Editing facility.
Hi Craig W
Welcome to the forum. My name is Segunfunmi, and I am an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user just like you. I appreciate you reaching out to me with your query.
If you’re trying to change from double to single spacing in Microsoft Word and the Paragraph Spacing option is grayed out, you can try the following methods:
You can use the Find and Replace feature to change all instances of double spaces to single spaces. Here’s how to do it: On the Ribbon Home tab, click the “Replace” button over on the far right to open the Find and Replace window. You can also press Ctrl+H.
In the Find and Replace window, on the “Replace” tab, type two spaces into the “Find What” box, and then type one space into the “Replace With” box. Change Line Spacing: You can change the line spacing to a single space. Here’s how to do it: Highlight the paragraph's spacing that you wish to change. Go to the Home tab > Paragraph group > Click on the arrow in the lower right-hand corner to open the Paragraph window.
In the Paragraph window, make sure that you are in the tab called “Indents and Spacing”, then change the setting called “Line spacing” to read "Single". Or, you can go to Design > Paragraph Spacing > Custom Paragraph Spacing. Under Line Spacing, choose Single. Remove Paragraph Space: If you want to remove the space between paragraphs, you can do the following: Select the top of the document. Go to Design > Paragraph Spacing. Choose No Paragraph Space.
Please note that these methods are for Microsoft Word. If you’re using a different program, the steps might be different. If none of these methods work, providing more information about the program you’re using and the specific issue you’re encountering might be helpful.
Warm regards Segunfunmi
