printing template for #10 window envelopes

Hello! I'm hoping to use mail merge option to set up a bunch of letters using #10 window envelopes to display the recipients address. Is there a free, accessible template for word that works with the mail merge tool? How do people do this?

Thanks!

@ Shalom_409 When you use a Window Envelope, you print the address in the appropriate place in the letter, NOT on the envelope!!!

Simply click on Envelopes in the Create section of teh Malings tab of the ribbon and then to the Envelopes tab of the Envelopes and Labels dialog and after using the Options button to select the Envelope size, insert the necessary details and then click on the Print button

Is there a way to print a one off Com 10 envelope withOUT having to through mail merge?

I assume you mean an ordinary #10 envelope, not one with a window like in the first post of this thread. I also assume you're using the desktop Word, not Word Online (which can't do envelopes at all).

    If that's the case:

    • On the Mailings ribbon, click the Envelopes button at the left end. The Envelopes and Labels dialog box opens, with the Envelopes tab selected.
    • If the preview doesn't show a #10 envelope, click the Options button. In the Envelope Options dialog, open the Envelope Size dropdown and select "Size 10", then click OK.
    • Type the recipient's address in the Delivery Address box.
    • Type your own address in the Return Address box, or check the Omit checkbox if you don't need to print the return.
    • To print the envelope immediately, first make sure there's an envelope properly inserted in the printer. Then click the Print button. The printer should start immediately (it doesn't open Word's Print page).
    • If it's an envelope that you may want to print again later, click the Add to Document button instead of the Print button. Save the document as a Word file.

    Hello Kate I,

I'm Shalom and I'd happily help you with your question. In this forum, we are Microsoft consumers just like yourself.

    Here's a step-by-step guide:

    1. Open Microsoft Word: Launch Microsoft Word on your computer.
    2. Create a New Document: Start with a new blank document.
    3. Set Up Your Document: Go to the "Layout" or "Page Layout" tab and set the page size to match your envelope size (usually 4.125" x 9.5" for a #10 envelope). You can also adjust margins as needed.
    4. Insert Address Block: Place your cursor where you want the recipient's address to appear. Then, go to the "Mailings" tab, click on "Start Mail Merge," and select "Step by Step Mail Merge Wizard."
    5. Select Document Type: Choose "Letters" as the document type and click "Next: Starting document."
    6. Select Recipients: Choose the option "Use an existing list" if you have an Excel spreadsheet or another data source with recipient addresses. Alternatively, you can type a new list directly into Word by selecting "Type a new list" and clicking "Create."
    7. Write Your Letter: Click "Next: Write your letter" to compose the letter. Insert merge fields like <First name="">>, <Last name="">>, <Address>>, etc., where you want the recipient's information to appear.
    8. Preview Your Letters: Click "Next: Preview your letters" to review how each letter will look with the recipient's information merged in.
    9. Complete the Merge: Click "Next: Complete the merge" and choose "Print Documents." In the "Merge to Printer" dialog box, select "All" or specify which records you want to print. Then, click "OK."
    10. Print Your Envelopes: Load your #10 window envelopes into the printer, following any specific instructions for your printer model. Once the envelopes are loaded, click "Print" to print the merged letters directly onto the envelopes.
    11. Save Your Template: Once you're satisfied with your template, save it for future use by going to "File" > "Save As" and choosing a location on your computer to save the document as a template file (.dotx).

    Best Regards, Shalom</Address></Last></First>
