Edit the textin placeholders in word templates

In Word 365, I create a new document with "New From Template"

I choose my template. The document appears.

I want to change a word inside the existing text that is there. Say I want to change the 'SOW' in the following to something else:

I am unable to select the text. When I click on the text, it highlights parts of the paragraph, and I can't use the mouse or keys to change the cursor to select any part of it. It's like the text is locked. I don't even know what this feature is called.

How do I turn the ENTIRE document into a regular editable document where I can edit anything? It seems like I have to copy each random block that it has and paste it back into itself over the top of what is there. This is super annoying, especially on long documents, and I hope there is a better way.

    Hi Tim,

You can edit any placeholder text by clicking on Design Mode on the Developer Tab.

It will look something like this:

The indicator that you are in design mode is the tabs on either end of every Content Control. Remember to turn Design Mode off when you are done. The word "here " is selected in the screenshot and can be replaced by typing.
