I had to update my "MacBook Air mid 2012" to OS Catalina 10.15.7.

My Office applications no longer work! What a mess!

Which Office version can I now get that is compatible with my Mac?

I cannot afford the yearly 365 supscription. Is there lisence that I can only pay once?

    Hi Helen_HR

I’m Garcia and I will be happy to help you with your question, I am a Microsoft consumer like you. Additionally, this is a user support forum and Independent Advisors cannot access accounts.

The versions of Microsoft Office that are compatible with macOS Catalina 10.15.7 are:

Microsoft 365 Office 2019 (Not on MS website)

However, it's important to note that Microsoft has ended mainstream support for Office 2019 for Mac as of October 2023. This means that you will no longer receive new features or security updates for Office 2019 on macOS Catalina ---- https://support.microsoft.com/office/16b8414f-08ec-4b24-8c91-10a918f649f8#ID0EBBF=Microsoft_365_for_Mac

While Office 2019 will still function on macOS Catalina, it's important to be aware of the security risks associated with using unsupported software. If you need the latest features and security updates, you will need to upgrade to a newer version of macOS that supports Microsoft 365.

If you have MS 365, the latest build of Office 356 that supports macOS Catalina 10.15.7 is version 16.66.

"According to Hughes in this thread: https://answers.microsoft.com/thread/b3136c98-caad-4eab-aa2c-c4c67e9f1328

The October 2022 update (16.66) is the last build of Office 365 to support macOS Catalina 10.15. You can download the installer for this version from this page:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/update-history-office-for-mac

Note that you will need to turn off the autoupdate feature in Office to prevent it from being updated past this version so you will never receive any security or feature updates to Office"

    I hope this helps.

    Best regards, Garcia

I purchased a Groupon for a license for Office 2019 for Mac, upgraded my laptop to Catalina, but then was unable to activate the license in my Microsoft account because I needed at least one of the last 3 versions of the Mac OS, which means I have to run Big Sur, which can't install on this older Mac laptop. What are my options? Any ideas?

You need to tie your product key to a Microsoft account via setup.office.com and only through the install apps section downloader afterwards does it properly install, activates, and finally functions. Uninstall the autoupdater as there are no more updates for it.

I can assist you if you'd like. Just got this to work with a client's iMac Pro late 2012 on Catalina. Onedrive also functions within the app.
