How to fix the "Server drafts location.. not valid or don't have permission to access that lication..." in my Office Home & Student 2021 ?

While trying to change an Option, I get the error message "The server drafts location you entered for offline editing is not valid or you do not have permission to access that location." I can't seem to fix it.

Sorry for the inconvenience, I am an independent advisor, trying to help other users in the Community with my experience in Microsoft products. Please note that I am a user like you and don't work directly for Microsoft.

  1. Right-click on the start button, choose Run then type regedit to open the registry editor.
  2. Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Common\Offline\Options
  3. Right-click and choose New > String and type Location as the name.
  4. Right-click on Location, choose Modify, and add the path to your documents folder. (You can put any path there; Word no longer uses that field.)”
