Hello Kelly,
Google Docs is designed to track changes made by users and If a user made changes to the document, their name should appear in the version history corresponding to those edits. However the reasons below could be some of the possibilities regarding your scenario:
- Time: Ensure you're checking the correct time period of the history.
- Permissions: Double-check the sharing permissions for the Google Doc. Ensure that the colleague in question has edit access to the document. Without edit access, her changes won't be tracked in the version history.
- Check Permissions Logs: Google Workspace Admins can access detailed logs of document sharing and anything related to access changes. If you have admin access, you can check these logs to see if there were any unusual activities related to the document sharing or permissions.
- Incognito Edits: It's possible that if your colleague was viewing or editing the document in an incognito mode, her changes might not be associated with her account in the version history. Similarly, if she was using an account not logged into Google services, the changes may not be tracked.
- Visibility of Changes: The version history may not display changes to certain elements like the document title or metadata changes (such as from "Agenda" to "Minutes"). However, any content edits within the document should be visible in the version history.
After all them possibilities stated above I hope I've helped to solve your issue however should you have further concerns please do not hesitate to contact me again.
Thanks,
Parth P.
