Windows 11 Update - Save As PDF - bold formatting lost

I have not been able to "print" emboldened text when I Save as PDF since the latest MS Windows/Office update - when the default font was changed to Aptos.  All of my documents are saved to PDF for circulation - with no problems until the beginning of March.

My documents use Raleway for headings and Open Sans for the body text, in line with my client's Style Guide. My documents use bold type extensively throughout, and rely on bookmarks for ease of access.

Both fonts are fully installed (with all variations) on my PC; Windows and MS 365 are fully up to date (see below)

If I print to PDF the output does embolden the text where required, but does not include the bookmarks. If I Save As to PDF the exported file does not embolden any text, but does include the bookmarks.  I need a PDF with bold text and bookmarks for circulation.

In an effort to fix the problem, I have tried PDFs that use the Raleway Black, ExtraBold and SemiBold and the Open Sans ExtraBold and SemiBold fonts.  None of these export with bold text, though they display correctly on screen

It seems to me that something in the most recent update has broken the Save as PDF feature - when can we expect this issue to be fixed?

If you feel this is a bug, you can report it by choosing File>Feedback>Send a Frown in Word. Submitting sends the form to the Word programming team. They are unlikely to reply.

Raleway is a Google font. Google fonts are created by aspiring typographers rather than professional type foundries. For best results, please use the fonts that are included with Microsoft Office, these have been tested and verified to work correctly with Office software.

Raleway includes variable fonts. These are not fully supported in Office and may lead to unexpected results. Please use the static version of the font instead.

I appreciate that we are not using a Microsoft tested and verified font ... but up until my most recent Windows update we had no problems with the exported PDF file.

We don't want to have to change the branding because of issues introduced in the Windows update.

    Hello Marshila,

    * I am a Microsoft user like you trying to provide solutions to community members, I am NOT a Microsoft employee.

I don't have any issues with saving to PDF on my version of Word, although I use Windows 10 and my word isn't the latest version. While I don't have any clue on how to fix the bug you're experiencing, I suggest that you drop a review of the app on the Windows store alerting them of this issue (since they probably won't view this thread). In the meantime, you can save our file in the .docx format and use a free online Word to PDF converter like https://www.ilovepdf.com/word_to_pdf or https://smallpdf.com/word-to-pdf or https://www.adobe.com/ng/acrobat/online/word-to-pdf.html
