Sharing OneDrive Folders outside my organization
I am experienced with ONE DRIVE. I want to SHARE a folder to specific people outside my organization. This should be simple! But it fails!!! Also, where did the settings go to PASSWORD a Folder and/or provide and EXPIRY DATE to a shared folder?
Thank you in advance
PS - For the inexperienced: I want to share with SPECIFIC PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF MY ORGANISATION. If I wanted share with ANYONE (including hackers) I may as well just share via google drive LOL

2024-02-10T19:35:13+00:00 Thank you Tina. I compared my settings to your screen. I left as default and I assigned a password to the FOLDER that I want to share. I tested internally via my "non Microsoft gmail" and it appears to work. The final test is if the specific users I emailed can access the files.
I respect Microsoft but in my opinion, there are too many sharing "options" that seem to "randomly conflict," this creates problems and my customers often request to "just share using google drive".

Glad to know it works when you tested internally via your "non Microsoft gmail" account. Feel free to let us know if it works for your specific users, I'll be glad to help you further.
Hope you have a nice day!

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.
Per your description, you want to share a folder with specific people outside your organization, you also want to set password for the folder and provide the expiry date, but you don't want to use the Anyone option. I suppose you want to use the People you choose option.
May I know if my understanding of the scenario is right?
If yes, as far as I know, we can set password and expiration date for OneDrive folders only to Anyone sharing. So in this scenario I'm afraid it is not possible to keep People you choose setting and also set password and expiration date.
I do understand the inconvenience caused and apologize for it.
I understand your concern and recommend you share your feedback in OneDrive Feedback Community. The OneDrive developers team collects users’ feedback and ideas through this channel. This is the best way to let the developers hear from you and help us improve the product.
If you are willing, you may try follow method as a workaround:
Go to SharePoint Admin Center (you need to have SharePoint Admin permission or Microsoft 365 Admin permission), in More external sharing settings, set Guests must sign in using the same account to which sharing invitations are sent. as shown below, click Save on the bottom of the page.
After it, in OneDrive right-click on the folder you want to share > Manage access > Share > choose Anyone and set an expiration date and password > Apply and type the external user’s email to a field.
When the external user receives email invitation, he/she must sign in using the same account that sharing invitation are sent.
If my understanding of the scenario is not consistent with yours, feel free to point it out, I will continue helping you.
Thanks for your time and understanding! We hope you have a nice day. Stay safe and healthy.
