When I copy and try to paste an image its a white box. It prints as a white box. I've tried everything to fix this nothing works!

Operating word365

I have uninstalled and reinstalled, and updated my PC

Various tutorials say to do the following

      advanced options

tick show drawings and text boxes on screen- done

uncheck show picture place holder -literally not an option for me, it was apparently removed in 2023

    Display Options

tick print drawings created in word- done

    View

be in print layout not draft- done

Paste file as a bitmap- didn't work

Seriously frustrated as I need to be able to put images in documents for my job.

    Hello SkenSum,

    * I am a Microsoft user like you, providing solutions to community members; I am NOT a Microsoft employee.

Your frustration is understandable. Here are some additional troubleshooting steps that might help, considering the options you've already tried:

    1. Clipboard Issues: Use a Different Method to Copy: Instead of using Ctrl+C, try right-clicking on the image and selecting "Copy" or "Copy Image."
    2. Insert Images Directly: Instead of copying and pasting, try inserting the image directly into your document. Go to Insert > Pictures and browse to the location of the image file.
    3. Use Screenshots: If the image is from another program, you can take a screenshot and insert it into your document. Use the Snipping Tool or the Print Screen key for screenshots.
    4. Word Settings: Some add-ins might interfere with image pasting. Close Word, then restart it in Safe Mode (hold Ctrl while opening Word) to see if the issue persists. If the images paste correctly in Safe Mode, then an add-in might be causing the problem. Disable your add-ins one by one to identify the culprit.
    5. File Format Compatibility: Make sure the image you're copying is in a format compatible with Word, such as JPG, PNG, GIF, or BMP. If it's an uncommon format, try converting it to a more widely supported one. The image size might also be causing an issue, so you could try compressing it using a tool like https://tinypng.com/ Note: This is a non-Microsoft website. The page appears to be providing accurate, safe information. Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install it.
    6. Graphics Card Drivers: Outdated or faulty graphics card drivers can sometimes cause display issues. Update your graphics card drivers to the latest version from the manufacturer's website.
    7. Office Repair: If the above steps don't work, consider a more thorough repair. Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features. Find Microsoft 365, right-click on it, and select "Change" or "Modify." Choose "Online Repair" and confirm. This will attempt a more comprehensive repair of your Office installation.
    8. Report the Issue: If none of these solutions work, consider reporting the issue to Microsoft directly through the "Feedback" option within Word (File > Feedback > Send a Frown). This helps them identify and fix bugs in future updates.

    Hope this helps you.

Alright, hopefully they reply your feedback request soon, while you keep using Word Online in the meantime.

so I can add images to the online word tool, and they print for the online app fine. ty for this suggestion.

The images do not appear if I download the .docx file and open it in desktop word. Its definitely some weird issue with only my desktop (no one else at the company has this issue) which is odd cause I'm newer and it was just downloaded so its not like I was playing around in the settings.

Wow... Now, that's a deep bug if I've ever seen one. In the meantime, I suggest that you use the free online Word tool (https://www.office.com/launch/word) to edit and print files that require pictures.

On second thought, if the images paste successfully in Word Online, then you should download the .docx file and open it on Word locally to see if the images now appear. Of course, this doesn't fix the issue, but a little workaround I guess.

    Hi.

Thanks for the input. unfortunately the problem persists. as note I've also checked transparency, its not on.

1- white box, I tried all the paste options (keep source formatting, merge formatting, picture

    2- white box

3- snipping tool is what I was originally using- white box

4- white box persists in safe mode

5- compressing images doesn't change display

6-its not a graphics card issue. I can paste images into access and excel, I run 3d software on the setup without issue.

    7- no change.

    8- reporting now.

Thanks for the in depth attempt to help
