Onedrive cannot detect, or upload my photos on Android phone

Onedrive just refuses to sync my photos from my android phone to onedrive.

Tried and retried everything possible on my end.

things i've tried:

  1. double checked related settings. in android onedrive app, click Me, Settings, Camera backup, and it shows photo backup is on.

it says "photos and videos are protected" under Camera backup.

  1. click camera backup, click Back up device folders, all the photo folders are present. to further clarify, all the boxes are checked and shows blue.
  2. go back to the main menu, click "photos" at the bottom, next to the "me" button. then click "explore" on the top right. on the bottom, a little higher than"photos"or "me", i can see the category"photos on device", and it shows the photo folders on my phone, which it should. click the "see all" button to the right to check all the folders. now it lays out all the folders, which it should, and click "camera", which is where all my pics taken by phone is stored. now there is a toggle on the top that says, "back up to onedrive". it is toggled. 100% percent toggled. the circle is on the right side of the toggle, and it is BLUE, which could only mean onedrive is currently syncing this folder.

EXCEPT THAT IT IS NOT SYNCING AT ALL

in the folder, i can clearly see all my pics, and onedrive does not sync any one of them. NOT EVEN ONE.

after noticing this problem, i started taking many photos multiple times to test whether onedrive is working or not. the answer is always no.

To clearify, data usage is set to backup over wifi and mobile network, and i've tested both wifi and mobilenetwork. never worked

toggled on and off for "backup only while charging", and actually tried charging, or not charging. never worked

gave onedrive all the permissions possible. never worked

so I went for the nuclear option. I uninstalled onedrive from my phone, and reinstalled it from google play store. then i redid all the things above. TWICE. did not work.

please help. this is getting absurd, and my photos are not getting secure backup.

I have done some research and found other users resolved this by allowing MS Office 365 access to my location solved the problem. Lets give this a try?

Whether your mobile photos are uploaded to OneDrive is a setting on your mobile, and not OneDrive
