Utilizing Microsoft Copilot Pro: Integrating University License with Personal Account

Hello, Microsoft members

I use a university account to download and use Microsoft 365 with the license of my university account, but when I subscribe to "Microsoft Copilot Pro" with my own Microsoft account, I do applications like Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, which I am using with the university license have the Copilot feature inside them?

I'm concerned that when I sign up for "Microsoft Copilot Pro" with my own Microsoft account, the feature won't appear in the Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications I'm using.

Please consider and explain carefully to my case because I also really want to use "Microsoft Copilot Pro"

Best regards,

David

I had the same question. Now i wonder if it will be possible in the coming time to buy a Copilot PRO subscription with an A1 school account, which currently it is not possible.

    Hello David Q,

I'm not sure I fully understand your query. So, please let me break down my understanding of your question and you can tell me if I'm correct.

You currently use Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) under your university license. You want to sign up for Microsoft Copilot Pro with your personal Microsoft account. You want to know if the features of Microsoft Copilot Pro on your personal Microsoft account will reflect in the Microsoft 365 applications you're using under your university license.

If all three statements above are correct, then the answer is, No, signing up for Microsoft Copilot Pro with your personal Microsoft account will not enable the Copilot feature within the Microsoft 365 applications you're using under your university license.

According to information on https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/b/copilotpro you can unlock Copilot in Microsoft 365 apps, but only on the same account. Also, you'll require a Microsoft email address.

I hope this answers your question.

    Hello,

I see the following basic license types to qualify for a Copilot license for Microsoft 365 as follows:

    Microsoft 365 E5

    Microsoft 365 E3

    Office 365 E3

    Office 365 E5

    Microsoft 365 Business Standard

    Microsoft 365 Business Premium

    Microsoft 365 A5 for faculty*

    Microsoft 365 A3 for faculty*

    Office 365 A5 for faculty*

    Office 365 A3 for faculty*

But in Microsoft 365 my options are:

So if I purchase the "Microsoft Personnal" package for $69.99/year, am I eligible to receive a Microsoft Copilot Pro when I sign up "Copilot Pro" ?

    Best,

    David

    Hello David,

    To answer your questions:

    1. From what I can see on Microsoft's official site, Copilot is currently available in Power BI, but not in Power Query.
    2. If you aren't paying for your university's Microsoft 365 subscription, there's probably no need to delete it. However, if you're paying for it, then I suggest you delete the subscription and buy a new subscription with your personal account instead of paying in two places. Ensure you transfer all your current work to the new account before canceling the old one though.

Concerning setting up Copilot for Microsoft 365, you should read this article on the Microsoft website that details it: https://learn.microsoft.com/microsoft-365-copilot/microsoft-365-copilot-setup.

    Hello, Stephen N.

Yes, you have understood my problem correctly

Thank you for letting me know what happens if I use my account to buy "Copilot Pro"

Here are a few questions I have and I hope you can answer them:

    1. Is "Copilot" currently available in the two software programs, Power BI and Power Query? I currently live in the state of California.

    2. The worrying thing now is that I am currently using Microsoft Office 365 at my university, and I want to use my account to buy "Microsoft 365," and then I will buy "Copilot Pro." I don't know if I should delete my university's Microsoft Office 365 apps, buy "Microsoft 365" with my account, and then redownload my college apps. "Microsoft 365" again.

. This is my university's Microsoft Office 365:

. I have downloaded and installed this application package to my device:

I don't know the best way so that when I subscribe to "Microsoft Copilot Pro," the Copilot feature will appear on my applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

I would like to ask you to suggest the best solution and detailed steps so that I can successfully register for "Microsoft Copilot Pro"

I look forward to receiving your earliest response

    Best,

    David
