Every time I try to type in my word app, it has the paragraph symbol and instead of blank space it has dots. I’ve tried everything the internet says I should. I’ve gone into the options and turned off “show all formatting marks” but it keeps turning back on for some reason!! Then sometimes it does it when it’s not even checked!

Ensure that only one document window is open in Word and then do the following: Click File > Options > Display. Clear the check marks next to all options below "Always show these formatting marks on the screen." Confirm with OK. Restart Word so that the settings become correctly written to the Windows registry.

What are the changes that were made that might be causing the issue? Do you use any add-ins? If the suggested option didn't work, I recommend closing Word, then opening File Explorer and navigating to C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates. Next, delete the normal.dotm file. Did you make sure that only one document was open when you cleared the options for nonprinting marks? It is a crucial step.
Could you show us a screen shot of your Word window?
You should also look at File > Account and report back with version number you see.
