How do I access Onedrive files from other mobile apps?

How do I access my Onedrive files from other applications on my phone? I have the OneDrive app and I made the folder I want to access available offline. However, when using an app like Capcut or Canva when I try to import media from the Onedrive folder, it's nowhere to be seen. It only shows local file folders.

My phone is a Google Pixel 6 Pro, in case that helps.

Is there a way to access Onedrive files and folders on mobile the same way one might access those files and folders using file explorer on desktop? Thank you.

    Hi Nico,

Thank you for reaching out. My name is Furkaan, a user just like you. I’d be happy to help you with your concerns. Unfortunately, directly accessing OneDrive files within other mobile apps like CapCut or Canva isn't universally supported on Android, even with the folder marked offline.

Here is a workaround to access your OneDrive files in these apps:

Download the File Locally: This is the less ideal solution, but it works. Open the OneDrive app and navigate to the desired file. Locate the three-dot menu and select "Download." This will save a copy of the file on your device's local storage. Then, within CapCut or Canva, you should be able to browse and import the downloaded file from your phone's folders.

I see. Is there a way to download an entire folder to the device all at once? Thank you!

    Hi Nico,

Downloading an entire folder from OneDrive to your device at once isn't directly supported within the OneDrive app. However, you can achieve this through two methods:

Zip Download with OneDrive Website: Open a web browser on your phone and go to the OneDrive website. (https://onedrive.live.com/login/) Sign in to your Microsoft account. Locate the folder you want to download. Tap and hold the folder to select it. In the top menu bar, tap the "Select more" checkbox (it might appear as a checkmark next to a number). This will select all the files within the folder. Tap the download icon (usually an arrow pointing downwards). Choose "Compress files" to create a ZIP archive of the entire folder. Select a download location on your device and initiate the download. Download Through "Files by Google" (Specific Versions): Similar to file access, this method only works with older versions of "Files by Google" (around June 2021 timeframe) that have built-in OneDrive support. Open "Files by Google" and navigate to the OneDrive section (if available). Locate the folder you want to download. Tap and hold to select the folder. Look for a download option (might be a three-dot menu with a download icon). Choose a download location on your device and initiate the download.
