Cloud fonts are terrible. How do I disable them? Turning off "Optional Connected Experiences" did not help.

Hi,

Here's my method to turn off annoying cloud fonts:

First you need to close all Office software. Then locate the Microsoft FontCache folder at: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FontCache.

Delete all files within this folder, but keep the folder itself as it will be needed later. Next, create two new blank text documents then name one ListAll.Json and the other flat_officeFontsPreview.ttf. Please note that the file extension .txt has been changed.

Copy ListAll.Json into the Catalog folder. Copy flat_officeFontsPreview.ttf into the PreviewFont folder.

Job done. If you want to restore, just delete all folders and files under FontCache. Then, the next time you open Office while online, you will see the little clouds again.

Best Regards,

Brad

    Thank you, it works!

Note: In my case there was another level of folder called "4":

    C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FontCache\4\

    Hello D... M....,

Welcome to the Microsoft Community, I'm glad to have this opportunity to help you with your problem.

I understand that you want to disable the Cloud Fonts feature in PowerPoint. Trying to turn off the Optional Connection Experience doesn't help!

I'm sorry to hear that your usage is being affected, this is really upsetting.

I'm sorry to inform you that there is no direct option to disable this cloud font individually in Office at this time, which may be a design flaw in the Office app. This is probably a design flaw in Office applications. Generally speaking, this can only be achieved by turning off the networking features through "Turn on all connected experiences". However, this option doesn't work right now.

As for why this option doesn't work now, I think it may be a bug or a pending fix.

Microsoft takes the user experience very seriously and is committed to constantly improving the quality of its products. In this case, I suggest that you provide feedback to the development team, as it means a lot to Microsoft and to users like you, and the Office team will carefully collect user feedback and make improvements.

Feedback method: In any Office application (e.g. Word, PowerPoint), click File->Feedback->and then select different types of feedback according to your needs.

Please describe your situation and needs in as much detail as possible so that our team can more accurately understand and resolve your issue.

Thank you again for your feedback, Microsoft values every user's opinion and suggestion and will strive to improve our products and services.

    Best wishes

    This worked for me! Thanks!

    Just one addition, C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FontCache\4\

Delete all files within this folder and sub-folders, but keep the folders itself as it will be needed later.
