How to freeze the video and add text

I made a tutorial video with screen and voice only. One part of it no longer applies. So I'd like to edit the video to freeze it at a certain point for, say, 10 seconds, and put some text over the frozen image to say something like, "This part no longer applies." How can I do that?

Thanks!

    Hi Nrgins,

Thank you for reaching out. My name is Furkaan, a user just like you. I’d be happy to help you with your concerns. Clipchamp doesn't have a built-in "freeze frame" feature, but there's a workaround you can use to achieve a similar effect. Here's how:

    Slow Down and Duplicate:

Import your video clip into Clipchamp. Find the exact frame where you want to freeze the video. Click on the "Speed" option on the top right corner of the editing panel. Drag the speed slider all the way down to the slowest setting. This will make the video playback extremely slow.

    Split and Duplicate:

Play the video slowly and pause exactly at the frame you want to freeze. Use the cutting tool (scissors icon) to split the video clip at that point. Now, select the newly created clip (the paused frame) and duplicate it a few times (enough to cover the desired 10 seconds).

    Add Text:

Click on the "Text" tab on the left sidebar. Choose a text style that complements your video. Type your message, like "This part no longer applies." Drag and drop the text box onto the frozen frame clip on your timeline. You can adjust the text position, size, and colour using the editing tools provided.

    Refine and Export:

Play the edited video to ensure the frozen frame lasts for 10 seconds and the text is positioned correctly. You can adjust the number of duplicated clips or trim them slightly if needed to achieve the exact duration. Once satisfied, export your edited video.
