How to reorder multiple excel files when open on the toolbar?

Hi, I use Multiple Excel files when at work. And for making my job easy, at the start of the day, I open those excel files in sequence (which refers one file after the other), so that I need not drag the cursor to find the next file required. However, when accidentally if any excel file in between closes, the sequence breaks and then the file which I closed when I reopen, it is the last one amongst all the other opened excels. How do I reorder them back to the order they were in?

Why? That is beyond stupid. It cant possibly be that complex to let us rearrange file order on the toolbar. Stop marketing your OS around mobile apps and fix this.

I accidently figured out if you use the "hide" function under the view tab and then use another workbook to "unhide" it, the workbook you originally hid will go to last in the order. You can re-arrange that way, not ideal but better than nothing.

They can be rearranged without having to close them and reopen them in the order you want them. I know this because I work in 7 different workbooks every day, all day long. I have always opened them in the order I wanted, but I have noticed several times, that once in a while one of the workbooks that I opened has moved.

For example, just today, the 2nd workbook I opened is now the 7th one in the toolbar, so they can be rearranged, I just don't know what I'm doing that's making that happen, because when it happens, I'm not trying to do it, it just happens.

Once I figure it out, I will let you know.

I have the same experience as Edy. I always have at least 9 different workbooks open simultaneously. If I hover over the Excel icon in the taskbar I can see ALL of the workbooks I have open, and sometimes, if I get in too much of a hurry when going to select one to expand it changes the order of them. I like them in a specific order for ease of use. But sometimes they change. Yesterday, all nine of them suddenly showed themselves in reverse order. Strange. I am certain there is a way to do this purposely rather than accidently, but it must be a secret of the highest magnitude.
