Unable to expand photos - 001.zip into Downloads

I (and many others on my team) have this issue. After some searching, it looks like there is an issue with OneDrive creating .zip files that are not able to be unzipped on Macs. See this article - https://www.bitsgalore.org/2020/03/11/does-microsoft-onedrive-export-large-ZIP-files-that-are-corrupt . Any .zip file larger than 4GB is not going to work. There is a fix in the article but I won't be able to use it as my work won't allow me to install perl on my computer. It would be great if Microsoft could make the fix their product so folks don't have to rely on other file storage/transfer software programs to do a simple task. We are looking into using Box.

    Hi MSanborn,

The Unarchirver app seemed to work fine for me.

I think it's to do with the format that Onedrive uses to compress their files. They use Zip64 which is apparently is not supported by Mac's unzipping app.

A very strange thing for one of the biggest tech company to struggle with :)

Thanks so much for bringing some actually useful info about this! It is incredible how one needs to have a 3rd party software dealing with Onedrive files, I wish I knew about this issue before deciding to store any data. This info should be everywhere because it is a paid service and Mac users need to know beforehand what they need to deal with.

I can confirm what Abdullah Almutawa1 said. Using the free app The Unarchiver from the App Store to open the OneDrive zip files works.

Once again, MS says it's supports macs but in fact doesn't. Like so many other parts of the MS365 product... you pay the same price but get a lesser product unless you are running windows.

Agreed! I've wasted so much time trying to fix this and am currently trying to figure out perl just to open a stupid zip file. Really re-thinking using OneDrive. If anyone has step by step instructions for idiots on how to use the perl fix that would be great, a lot of online stuff is aimed at people who aren't starting from square one.
