Customized ribbon disappeared in Excel

Hey all,

Hoping someone has experienced this before and has a solution. A staff member had a customized ribbon in Excel for a long time, with some Macros for easy access. It seems as though the customized tab has reset and we can't find a way to get them back. Has anyone experienced this before? We've had a look at the customized ribbon options and the add-ins to see if anything has been disabled or could be added back but there doesn't appear to be anything there.

Would appreciate any thoughts!

Matt

The only thing I see when File>Options is clicked is “Regional Format Settings”. Next the English (United States) is in the draw down. It is not necessary to select something you are already using.

There are no other Options listed in the Options option.

Hi, where is the customization file kept? Is there an automatic backup, or do you need to have exported it yourself previously?
I haven't exported my customisations since last year and have made several changes since.
Is it perhaps Excel.Office.UI in appData/Local/Microsoft/Office?
    Thanks :)

Yes, I know that. It is just that my Excel customisations randomly disappeared this morning (tried a restart to no avail) and I haven't manually exported them since last October.

So I was hoping that I may be able to use Excel.Office.ui or a version of it.

My question really is are the customisations automatically backed up in Excel? Or only if you have exported them manually yourself previously?

    thanks, Claire

Here are some steps you can try to restore your customized ribbon:

    1. Click on the "File" tab in Excel.
    2. Click on "Options" at the bottom of the left-hand menu.
    3. Click on "Customize Ribbon" on the left-hand side of the Excel Options window.
    4. Check to see if your customized ribbon is listed under "Customizations" on the right-hand side of the window. If it is, make sure it is checked.
    5. If your customized ribbon is not listed, click on the "Import/Export" button at the bottom of the Excel Options window.
    6. Click on "Import customization file" and browse to the location where your customized ribbon file is saved.
    7. Select the file and click "Open" to import it into Excel.

If these steps do not work, you may need to recreate your customized ribbon from scratch.
