How to set up auto update "% Complete" for monthly tasks on MS Project?

Hello, Looking for help to set up auto updating %complete for Monthly Task. I need to update tasks on Microsoft Project, that has some monthly tasks (e.g. Monthly Progress Report, Monthly Risk Register update) as well. I have these specific tasks set up as "Auto Schedule" but every month have to update the "% complete" manually based on the Start/Finish date and date of update. Looking for a way to set up these monthly task % complete update automatically, to get rid of manually calculating those each month. Thank you!

Don't enter % complete. Once you have a status date (project information) which is in the recent past, like yesterday 17:00, and the monthly task is/was done, actually started and finished as scheduled (a bit earlier than the status date), just select the task and click mark on track (task ribbon).

If it is actually started and actually finished, but on different dates than those scheduled, use the tracking table to correct the actual start and actual finish.

    NSharmin,

There is no "auto-update" in Project but you can come pretty close by using the "Update Project" feature found under, Project > Status group > Status. Set a Status Date appropriate for you monthly update and then pick the update that best applied to what you need. Note, you can apply the update to the whole project or just to selected tasks.

By the way, you say you have these specific tasks set up as auto-scheduled. ALL of your tasks should be auto-scheduled, not just a select few.

    Hope this helps.

    John
