I understand you lost recent changes in your Excel workbook due to an older version syncing through OneDrive. By default, Excel automatically saves a temporary version of your file (even if it’s unsaved) every 10 minutes.
There might be a temporary glitch with OneDrive's syncing process.
- Did you check the latest version of the file Online?
a. Go to office.com using your browser.
b. Select Excel.
c. Select the file which is reverted.
d. Check if you can see your recent edits there.
- If you’ve saved the file -
Open the file you were working on.
a. Go to File > Info.
b. Under Manage Workbook or Manage Presentation, select the file labeled (when I closed without saving).
c. In the bar at the top of the file, select Restore to overwrite any previously saved versions.

- Next, check the file in OneDrive Online.

- Go to www.onedrive.com/ and sign in with your Microsoft account.
- Check or download the files to the desktop and option it.

To prevent this happening again in future, Make sure AutoSave is enabled in Excel and regularly back up your important files to a separate location on your computer or external storage.
