How do I copy a style template from an existing document and import it into another document? I am editing a book and am receiving chapters in Word. I'd like to set up a style template and apply it to each chapter. How do I:

Save a style template from a document and

Import it/ apply it to an existing document?

Thanks!

First, start by creating a custom template set up the way you want and create new documents from that template if you want that layout. That is the simplest thing to do.

If you are talking about Word styles and not page layout, consider saving and applying a [Quick] Style Set.

To apply the page layout from a template to an existing document, the best method is to create a new document based on the template and paste the text from the existing document into the new document.

I have been trying to do this for days following replies, articles, and videos. It seems unnecessarily complicated. I have gotten error messages that say the template can't be saved. I've ended up changing all of the styles in the document I'm trying to copy FROM. The Organizer is anything but intuitive. It's exasperating.

General method to have a different template apply to an existing document is to create a new document based on that different template and then copy and paste the content from the existing document into the new document using the styles in the new document. If necessary to force this, have some text using each of the styles in the new document before pasting.

How do I save a style sheet that I created so that I can import it and apply it to a different existing document?
