MS Project Error ID 10102

Hello,

I have another problem with not being about to check out a project.

It is only me who uses project (I am the administrator) and I always check out the projects properly and ensure they are saved and published before checking back in, I only keep them open for a few hours max, so I don't understand why these problems seem to keep happening.

I cannot open a particular project from PWA to edit in the desktop client. All other projects are ok, it is just the 1 not working correctly. It is not already checked out (not in the force check-in list) I have cleared the cache so there is nothing there at all now. When I view the active cache status for this project it shows Error ID 10102.

Please could I have some help resolving this issue, and perhaps a guide as to what these error codes mean (Is there a list somewhere?)

We are considering using this across the business, but if I am unable to diagnose problems based on error code messages I am apprehensive!

Many thanks,

    Hi Helen,

I think I've fixed my issues by clearing/deleting some of the Cached files, as it appear it MS Project may have lost connection during a local save prior to saving to the server which caused a mismatch in Cached Data.

    The steps I took were:

    1. On MS Project of the Project you're working on go to: File > Options > Save > Under "Cache" section and Cache Location > Select Browse > Then copy the file location.
    2. Close MS Project
    3. Go to Windows search bar and paste file location in copied earlier.
    4. Delete the Cache file with the latest date and close Windows File Explorer.
    5. Go back to Project Center, open the project.

This is what worked for me. Let me know if it works for you.

    Best regards,

    Azamat

    Not yet.

I already have the links set up to PWA, so I downloaded the project, saved it locally, then saved it back to PWA (after renaming it so it doesn't conflict with the existing broken project), but now the newly saved version isn't showing in my project list, so who knows where that has gone!

    Regards,

    Helen

    Hi Tin,

    Thanks for your reply.

I was hoping not to do this as it means i need to rename the project and delete the old one, but if this is the solution then I shall give it a go.

I did a bit more investigation in the server settings and found this

Even though I have the "Cancel jobs getting enqueued" checked, the "cancel jobs" button is not enabled when I select a job. I was hoping that if I cleared this little mess up it may start working again.

Do you know why I'm not able to cancel these jobs?

    Many thanks,

    Helen

    Dear Helen Craddock1,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. I am happy to help you.

There is no specific information about this error message at this time.

It seems that just related to this specific project, we’d suggest you open this Project in Project client, then you can save this Project as .mpp file, then you can import this .mpp file from Project client, as steps shown below:

    1. First, you’ll need to create a connection between Project Professional and Project Web App.
    2. Once that connection is established and you are logged on to Project Web App, the next step is to publish the project to Project Web App.

For more details, you can refer to this article: More ways to create or import projects.

If the same problem still persists after trying the suggestions above, given the situation you encountered, I kindly recommended you can raise a service request in Microsoft 365 admin center, which the support there has the related permission and resource to help you check from the backend.

I look forward to your reply. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Tin | Microsoft Community Moderator
